We left Omaha after Brian got done with his rotation Thursday night, and drove until we reached their home in Menomonee Falls. We got there at about 11:30pm. We unloaded the car, which contained A LOT of treasures for Karen.

The next morning we got up to find Summer had an allergic reaction to her medication. The poor girl had ears that were HUGE and red. Poor thing. Too bad we didn't get a picture of it. It was so sad.

After Karen took her to the doctor and gave her Benadryl, we headed out for a few tours. The first tour we took was of the Miller Beer Factory. It was pretty impressive. Apparently, the bottle 1400 bottles a minute, and 2000 cans a minute. It was incredible to see. They offered free beer at the end of the tour, but of course all 4 of us drank soda instead.

Following the Miller tour, we stopped in a ghetto part of town for some delicious Greek food. Granted, it was no Greek Islands like in Omaha, but it was still delicious. We had gyros and really enjoyed ourselves. Even Summer appreciated the lamb meat! Yum!

We then went to tour the Sprecher factory. Again, it was another beer factory, but they are also known for their root beer. Their root beer is awesome. Last time Karen came to visit me, she brought some down for me, it's that good. The tour was good. But Brian was having a hard time paying attention. All he could hear the tour guide saying was, "Blah, blah blah, Free Root Beer." And it's true. At the end of the tour, we got cute glasses with as much root beer as we wanted. We also tried the other sodas they make, including cherry cola, cream soda (which tastes like melted marshmallows), ginger ale (nasty!), Puma Kola, and a cranberry cherry soda. We tried them all and decided our top three were the root bear, cream soda, and cherry cola. So, we ended up getting some to bring home. Yum!

Following the tours, we got tickets to go to a game at Miller Park. It was amazing to be in the stadium. It is huge. And during the game, they closed the top of the stadium. It was so fun to be there. We had a great time!

We left a little early so we could go get some food. We got pizza from Edwardos. It was Chicago style pizza, and it was delicious! We found out that they deliver nationwide, so Brian and I have thought about getting some sent to us in Omaha.

The next day we had another fun packed day. It started off with the BEST breakfast ever. We went to the Original Pancake House. Karen and I both got Bacon Pancakes. They make bacon and crumble it up and cook the pancake batter with the bacon. It was awesome. Why haven't we thought of this before??? Brian and I are seriously going to try making pancakes that way.

After breakfast we headed over to Kohl's for a little shopping. They were having lots of specials. It was friends and family day, plus tax free day. We ended up spending $188, but our total savings were $474! You can't beat that! It was a great little shopping spree. Brian was able to get a lot of new work clothes for when he graduates.

Saturday evening the boys headed off to Priesthood, while Karen and I stayed home and started preparing Easter dinner. We made lemon blossoms, punch, pink deviled eggs, cheesecake, and creamed corn.

Sunday was the big feast day (as if we hadn't been eating all weekend-but that's what you get with 2 pregnant women!). Derrick and Karen had a lot of their friends over for dinner. We had a big feast including ham, asparagus, funeral potatoes, creamed corn, jello, carrots, salad, and so much more! Everything was delicious.

After we ate we had an egg toss. Brian and I came in third place. Darn it, I wanted to win, but our poor little egg broke. Oh well.

We left Monday morning, as Brian had to be back on Tuesday. But we had a wonderful time in Milwaukee with our friends. We can't wait to see them again-hopefully sooner than later. They are great friends and so much fun! Thanks for a great trip Callisters!!!!

OH NO! The Big 30!!!

On Saturday, Brian celebrated the Dirty 30! He had a very relaxed day. We spent the day doing the things and Brian enjoys doing!

The morning started out with the door bell ringing. Brian got an arrangement of fruit from Edible Arrangements from his family. He was in heaven. The fruit was so delicious! In time at all, Brian was chowing down on a chocolate covered pineapple in the shape of a bunny! YUM!

We decided it was an OK time to go ahead and open presents. The first present he opened was from Baby Fochs. BF already knows its Daddy so well that it got Brian the Blue Ray New Moon. Brian was very happy.

Next was the big present from me! Much to Brian's surprise, he got a 25 inch monitor for the computer. He was so excited. I mean, who doesn't need a 25 inch screen for their computer. I often rolled my eyes whenever we went looking at them. But alas, I broke down just to make him so happy!

After opening gifts, Brian wanted to run to Nebraska Furniture Mart and Costco. We had a cheap lunch at Costco, at Brian's request (don't worry, I didn't make him pay), did a little shopping there (as we usually do on Saturdays), and headed to the Mart.

After the Mart we headed to Kona Grill and had a delicious dinner of Avocado Egg Rolls, Macadamia Nut Chicken, Cheddar Smashed Potatoes, and veggies. Yum. It's one of Brian's fav restaurants. He also enjoyed some kind of sushi.

We headed home and enjoyed some homemade double layer Texas Chocolate Cake.

It was a very calm, but enjoyable day for the both of us. I can't believe Brian is 30. Not that I have much room to say anything....my birthday is just around the corner, too. Yuck!

Anyway, I was thinking about how wonderful Brian is and I thought I would make a list of 30 things I love about him! In no particular order....

He is so patient with me.

He lets me "win"

He makes me and those around him laugh

He thinks I'm beautiful.

He takes good care of me

He runs errands for my family without ever complaining. ie: taking my grandpa to the doctor, or delivery flowers for the flower shop

He gives great presents!

He is an honorable priesthood holder

He will steal drinks from the doctor's lounge for me (hehe!)

He will talk to my nephew, Parker, on the phone for as long as Parker wants to talk (which can be a VERY long time)

He has NEVER gotten mad at me

He encourages me to do things that make me happy, even if it involves spending money!

He likes my cooking

He gives great massages

He thinks he has a bunch of different ethnicities divided among his great whiteness

He is so fun to tease and joke around with

He says totally off the wall things that makes me laugh so hard

He has such a cute little "giggle" kind of like the philsbury dough boy

He doesn't think I really fly a "freak flag"

He puts up with my crazy friends, and likes them

He will watch the Bachelor with me, cuz he knows how obsessed I can get with it

He teaches my Sunday School lessons on days I have to work, and never gets annoyed over it

His weird obsessions with Tab-I mean who drinks that anymore

He is patient with my horrible Spanish speaking skills

He likes me even when I cry and am cranky

He works hard even while attending school to help support our little family

He lets me drive the nice car

He is pretty much happy all the time

He wants me to be happy

He loves all my parts...even those jiggly ones.

The list could go on and on. But I just want him to know how much I love him. He is a great husband. And I'm the luckiest person in the world, to be able to call him my husband and my best friend. I love you babe!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://fochsfun.blogspot.com/2010/03/oh-no-big-30.html' title='OH NO! Oh well there's all kinds of sweet baby hats out there.

Audi Here

One of the things that I did not mention on my last post was we got rid of my favorite car ever...My Audi TT Roadster. I loved that car so much! So sad to see it go! It was one of the best cars a single girl could have. I attribute finding a husband to this car. Thanks to my older brother, Brock, who suggested it, I bought it, and have enjoyed driving around with the top down ever since.

Well, being the mature adults that we are, Brian and I decided we needed a 4-door car. Brian also has a 2 door car and we were really in need of a bigger car. So we started looking. We posted the Audi on Craigs List on a Sunday night, and that Thursday, the car was sold! WOW!

Our search for a new car began. We actually sold the Audi before we had another car. But we found one that we really like...and maybe even love.

This is our Subaru Legacy. I can't believe I own a Subaru. I always had some preconceived notions about Subaru buyers.

I figured if you owned a Subaru, you must either be a tree hugger or a lesbian. And since I don't fall into either of those catergories, I never thought I would own one. But, oh, have my thoughts changed about Subarus. This car is awesome. It has a turbo engine, just like my Audi. Love the heated leather seats, the sunroof, and the sports shift. I can still pretend like I am driving my Audi with the sports shifting.

Brian and I can't wait until it really snows here. Then we can test out the All Wheel Drive. Or we hope to go on a road trip of some sort to test it out, too. So, if anyone knows of a place we can visit to test it out, let us know!!!

Slacker

So, I know have been a total slacker. Here is a picture the night we purchased it and another picture of it prior to our hard work of landscaping. And please forgive the garage door being opened. Brian didn't think it would be tacky leaving the door open. But alas, we have not taken a new one of it.

We love our new house. We have had fun decorating it and making it our own. We love our new ward, too. The people have been very friendly and welcoming to us.

Our spring consisted of working hard on our house. Then we had to prepare for our summer. This summer we spent 5 weeks in the Dominican Republic providing medical clinics for people in a small village. We worked hard, but loved the people and the creatures we met.

Here is a tarantula we found in our room one night! It was crazy. We couldn't even wake the host family we were staying with to kill it. They just kept on sleeping....

Here are some of the kids we hung out with. Our absolute favorite is the boy in the lower right hand corner in the blue striped shirt. His name is Junior Mercedes Brito. He was the sweetest boy. He cried and cried the day we left. I would be lying if I said we were able to hold up without any tears when we said goodbye as well. He really left an impression on us. We really hope to one day bring him the United States to visit us. We would be honored to have him visit us.

I could post pictures all day and write so many things about our trip to the DR. However, I won't. I will try to add a link with all of our picture is people are interested.

A few weeks before we left for the DR, my dad's dad passed away. He was a great man. We all went up to Idaho for his funeral. It was a very neat funeral. He was a veteran and had the gun salute at the burial. What a cool thing that is!

One impressive thing about my grandpa was that he had his life all in order right before he died. He had gone and done his home teaching the week before he died, visited friends, and even had the music laid out on the piano for the family to have prior to his death. We truly believe he knew it was his time to go. But what a testimony to us about home teaching and visiting teaching. He truly was a good example.

This is a picture of my nephew, Parker, wearing my grandpa's hat from WWII. It was such a cute picture. I couldn't resist taking it!

Seeing our family was great, while in Idaho. We also had a chance to meet up with an old bishop Brian had while attending BYU-I. It was nice to just be with family and friends. We also got to see the new Rexburg Temple. It is beautiful. Next time we are there, we hope to be able to go in and do a session while we are there.

Isn't it pretty????

After we got home from the DR, it was back to work, and back to working on our house more. We have been busy!

So, there is our summer in a nut shell. I will get more pictures uploaded and start working on what we have been doing this fall!

Again, I apologize for being a slacker. I will be better. Now that we are back, and things are calming down a bit more, I should have more time for blogging. But if I start slacking, send me a message to get back to it!

So Funny

So I found this on my cousin's blog and I died laughing. And it had to be one of my least favorite days, too! I was about ready to strangle my car and the weather! Let me explain....

So, I was headed back from the Winter Quarters Bookstore, in good ol' North Omaha, which just happened to NOT be opened on Mondays. At first I was slightly irritated by that. But I got over it. I'm driving along and I hear a thump-thump, thump-thump. I pull over on the interstate, put my flashers on, and get out of my car. My tires look fine, so I get back in the car and start driving again. Again, I hear the thump-thump. I am so ticked off! I call my dad first. I didn't want to bother Brian, as he has been studying for his finals. My dad is unable to do anything for me at this point, as he did not drive his car into work. So, I call my mom. And of course, I'm so mad, that I start crying. Lucky for me her driver for the flower store was out in the area I was stuck. So, someone came and picked me up. We drove to my house, where I picked up Brian's car (as I had dropped him off to study group earlier in the day) and then I went and picked up Brian from study group.

We got to my car, and mind you, it is seriously 1 degree outside, and I'm not talking Celcius! With the wind chill, it is at least 11 below zero! Since I have a small car, my trunk is FULL of stuff. So, I empty out my trunk into my front seat of my car. We pull out the spare tire, and try figuring out how to get my tire off. It isn't cuz we are stupid-my car is slightly different than other normal cars-darn Germans! By this point, I am so cold I can barely move! Brian tells me to get into his car and warm up for a bit. As I am doing so, low and behold someone pulled over to help us! It was our friend, Josh.

Brian and Josh end up putting on the spare tire of my car. No, my tire was not flat. Instead, it was totally shredded on the inside! That takes talent to do that! I don't know how they did it while it was miserably cold outside. But thank you so much guys! I appreciate it so much.

I then drive my car on the interstate with the donut, unable to go faster than 50mph. I make it to the tire place, to find out that one tire is going to cost me $200! So much for having a fun car! I guess that's what you get. And to make things worse-I had just purchased two new tires less than a year ago...and it already had to be replaced.

To make matters all worse, I left my purse in Brian's car. So, all day I have been without a purse. But I guess when you spend $200 on a tire, you really shouldn't be spending much money on anything else.

So, after cursing the cold weather and expensive tires, I am all better! I am just grateful for friends who don't mind pulling over and helping out in negative degree weather! We really appreciate you Josh! Anything we can do for you, let us know. We owe you HUGE!!!! Thanks again!

Halloween

Er..so, I know this is a little late. I will be making bedroom slippers for you all as gifts. Please let me know your sizes.

You'll most likely agree that it's a splendid idea, and should you wish to do the same, I've included the instructions below.

How to make bedroom slippers out of maxi pads:

* You need four maxi pads to make a pair.

* Two of them get laid out flat, for the foot part.
* The other two wrap around the toe area to form the top.

* Tape or glue each side of the top pieces to the bottom of the foot part. Decorate the tops with whatever you desire, silk flowers (this is most aesthetically appealing), etc.

These slippers are:

* Soft and Hygienic

* Non-slip grip strips on the soles

* Built in deodorant feature keeps feet smelling fresh

* No more bending over to mop up spills

* Disposable and biodegradable

* Environmentally safe

* Three convenient sizes: (1) Regular, (2) Light and (3) Get Out the Sand Bags.

I've attached a photo of the first pair I made so that you can see the nifty slippers for yourself....

Awaiting your response. It's crucial that I get the right size for each one of you!

My Four Boys!

Last week, my most favorite boys in the whole wide world came and spent 10 days with my family. I had the opportunity to meet the youngest of the four boys, whom I have never met. He was born the day before I got married. And needless to say, even though he was born in California, where I was married, he was born in Southern Cali, and I got married in Northern. His name is Sawyer, and he is such a good baby. I really enjoyed meeting him. (Sorry, no picture at this time...but I will have some soon!)

I also had a wonderful time with the 3 older boys. There names are Tyler (age 6), Parker (age 3 on October 21), and Hunter (age 2 on November 8). They were so much fun, and at such fun ages too. We got to go the zoo, Vala's Pumpkin Patch, and just hang out and play. They even got to stay the night at my house one night! The picture to the left and above is Parker, Hunter, and Tyler watching a movie. They kept asking if they could spend another night at my house, cuz they had so much fun. But who wouldn't have fun with an awesome aunt that let them have Happy Meals, stay up late watching movies, let them eat popcorn and breakfast in bed, and drink caffeinated beverages for breakfast? (Not that I condone any of these activities if they were my kids...but come on, that's the joy of being an aunt, right? The picture below is a picture of Hunter on the stairs with his Diet Coke.

I love being an aunt! You get to do fun things with them that their parents wouldn't!

These boys crack me up! Below are a few more pictures of things they did while they were here that were just so funny. I was helping the boys pop the seeds off the impatience flowers and Parker fell right in the middle of my mom's flower bed. I had to get a picture.
Then another night, I found Tyler and Parker asleep in my mom's linen closet. The door was originally closed, but we did open it. Tyler has his leg hanging out. If you look closely, Parker is in the back of the closet sleeping on his stomach.

I had such a wonderful time with these boys of mine. It is called The Surfside Club. You drive to thru North Omaha and past a park, all thru a really part of Omaha. The trees are big and beautiful. I can only imagine what it would like like in the fall! (He he to those of you who know this saying...) The Surfside Club is in the middle of nowhere. There is really not much around it, except the river. You can eat outside on some red picnic tables, or you can choose to eat inside. We opted for the outside option. We were able to enjoy the nice weather and watch a few boats go by. Unfortunately we were not able to experience the "mooning" that often occurs by people out on their boats. Maybe next time.

Interestingly enough, the menu is very, very short. You can get fried chicken, fried catfish, french fries, cole slaw or corn fritters. Brian got the fried catfish, and I got the fried chicken. It was delicious! We also got fries, cole slaw, and corn fritters. The corn fritters were awesome. Next time, I may just get an order of the corn fritters.

My parents, their friends, and my grandparents also joined us at Surfside Club. Brian tried to keep up with Papa on eating the catfish, but Papa took it like a champ. He ate the fish down to the bone! I don't think there was a piece of meat left on Papa's fishbone! Poor Brian...he lost to Papa. Here is a picture of the catfish. They even leave the tail on! Hmmm. I don't think I could even try to eat fish.

Overall, the night was really nice. We had a nice sunset too. I would encourage anyone in the Omaha area to try the Surfside Club. It closes for the season October 5, so get their soon! And if you need someone to go with...the Fochs' would love to join you!

PS...I'm not sure why there are those white blocks nex to the pictures. But, alas, it was not our fault this time! We went to the Greek Festival on Saturday night. This festival is one of my favorites in Omaha. It is so much fun! There is delicious Greek food, fun dancing, and good Greecian music. You have to be rather dull not to enjoy the Greek festival.

Anyway, as we were getting into the car, I said to Brian, "Don't forget your camera!" He ran inside and grabbed his camera and a battery charger that has a car adapter. He told me that his camera battery was dead and needed to be charged. So, we plugged the charger into the cigarette lighter. But alas, it did not work. So, needless to say, we did not have a camera to take pictures. So, once again, you will have to deal with camera phone shots. I promise, we will get this situation worked out!

While at the Greek festival, it started to pour! We were lucky enough to find a seat under the big tent and enjoy our gyros, bahklava sundaes, and loukoumades (delicous greek donuts!) and diet cokes while staying dry. Here is a picture of Brian enjoying his gyro. Yum! I believe the hour that we were there, we consumed more than our alloted daily calories. But it was well worth it.

Unfortunately, it rained almost the whole time we were there. My grandma, affectionately known by the family and all friends as Grams, was cold enough, she pulled up her hood on her sweater (see next picture). Although, we really shouldn't be too surprised. She is cold most of the time!

Alas, it started to rain even harder. So, we went ahead and called it a night. For those of you in Omaha who have never been to the Greek Festival, I would encourage you to go next year. It is usually the weekend after Labor Day. And it is well worth it. My whole family goes, and really enjoys it. Do you remember watching all those PBS specials of Lawrence Welk...or for those of us a little more mature, Saturday night TV of Mr. Welk? Well you would be as excited as we were about the little production we were able to see. I had the opportunity to take my grandparents to see Jo Ann Castle play the piano at the Nebraska State Fair.

Papa (my grandpa) was more than excited to see this fabulous piano player. She was quite the crack up too. Best thing is that she still was tickling her fingers across the ivories. The state fair had some delicous food too! While we were there, here is a list of all the food we ate. A polish hot dog with grilled onions, peppers, and sauerkrawt; a corn dog; grater taters; baklavah; a fried peach on a stick (one of my favorite items); funnel cake; kettle corn popcorn; toasted ravioli; pineapple whip; beef sundaes; a turkey leg for Grams; etc. I'm sure there was more, but I can't remember. Plus, if I keep adding to the list, it could get embarrassing...

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v7.nonxt7.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3Da737caf85fe33ebd%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331352674%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D2E0FC542E9C2BEF98C3122F833C86B9C30DAB4F5.23CA0BDBB5756CD56BD22EE576B61FABA62D7FBC%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3Da737caf85fe33ebd%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3Dg2Un5oT2boAtFIZx18cnrOjN924&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

Here's a little sample of her playing. However, I don't think I have seen anything quite as disturbing as this. Don't get me wrong when you watch this....I think breastfeeding is great...for a BABY, not an 8 year old! Gross! And I think the mother has totally screwed up her daughters, now. I often wonder if this lady would continue to breastfeed her children if they were boys. I mean, how would that conversation at school go: Boy: Yeah, I still suck on my mommy's boobie. Friend: Really? Can I see them some time? Boy: Sure, maybe she will let you try some out, too. Ok....that is just totally disgusting. Let me know what you think.... Here are a few of them. We had a wonderful time in Mexico. It was nice, hot, and sunny the whole week we were there. Brian was able to use his Spanish in town and had a good time with it. We rode the bus into town, where the main hub for the buses was Wal-mart! Go figure...Wal-mart is everywhere! We had to check out a Mexican Wal-mart, and guess what...it is almost the exact same as ours. It was even dirty like many of the Wal-marts are. We will see how well we (or should I say I) will keep up on this. I guess we will also have to take more pictures, so we can post them. Brian will be happy for that.
